Toronto Real Estate: Home Decor Trends in 2023

For the past few years, home decor trends have been leaning more toward minimalism, muted tones and clean lines. As a Toronto real estate agent, I see so many different home interiors. While I often work with staging companies to prep my clients’ homes during the selling process, there are often times when our team takes on the staging. This means we are always on top of the latest trends in home decor and this year’s trends are looking quite different than what we’ve become accustomed to. From bright, bold colours and gothic interiors to wallpaper and Terrazzo tiles, expect to see a number of unique and risky trends in 2023.

Seventies Decor

The seventies were all about vibrant colours, quirky patterns, and bold shapes—and this style has made a comeback in 2023! As such, expect to see lots of bright colours like mustard yellow, burnt orange, olive green, rust and more. Look out for floral patterns, large geometric shapes, rattan furniture, and other elements inspired by the 70s era.

Terrazzo Tiles

This trend is all about embracing bold colours and patterns with terrazzo tiles. Terrazzo tiles come in various sizes and shapes, making them perfect for any room in your house. These tiles can be used as flooring or backsplashes in your kitchen or bathroom, giving those spaces a modern look with a hint of retro flair.

Wooden Decor

One of the biggest trends for 2023 is wooden decor. From wooden furniture to wall panels, wood has become increasingly popular due to its natural beauty and timeless appeal. Natural wood accents can add warmth to any space while also creating a rustic feel. Dark Wood – For those looking for something more dramatic than traditional wooden decor, dark wood is the way to go! Dark wood furniture and accessories instantly add an air of sophistication to any space while adding contrast against lighter-coloured walls or flooring.

Macrame Accents

Macrame has been making a comeback over the past few years, but it looks like it’s here to stay in 2023! Macrame accents such as woven wall hangings or plant hangers are perfect for adding texture and colour to any room while also creating a cozy atmosphere.

Marble

Marble has been trending in home decor since 2019 but this classic material isn’t going away anytime soon! Whether you use marble countertops in your kitchen or marble tile on your bathroom walls, this luxurious material adds instant elegance to any space.

Beautiful Browns

Brown hues are becoming increasingly popular amongst homeowners who want to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in their homes. The trend is all about embracing earthy tones such as ochre and terracotta as well as darker shades like mocha and espresso. This trend is perfect for those who want to add a touch of sophistication to their homes without being too overwhelming or flashy.

Gothic Interior

Another big home decor trend this year is the Gothic interior style. This trend features dark furnishings such as black furniture and accents, moody lighting, velvet fabrics, metal candelabras, heavy curtains and lots of statement pieces such as mirrors and paintings. This trend is great for creating an opulent yet mysterious look in your home that will definitely make an impact on your guests!

Colour Pops

One way to add personality to your home without going overboard is by using colour pops throughout your space. This trend involves adding bright colours in small doses in order to draw attention to certain areas in your home without making it feel too busy or cluttered. Some great colour pop options include pink cushions on white sofas, blue art on white walls or yellow vases against grey walls – there are so many possibilities here!

Disco Ball Finish

If you want to make a statement in your home this year then look no further than the disco ball finish trend! By adding mirrors throughout your space that has a disco ball effect you can create an eye-catching look that will definitely turn heads. This is perfect if you want to add some sparkle or glamour to a room without going overboard…please don’t go overboard!

Kitschy Kitchenware

One of the biggest trends this year is kitschy kitchenware. Think teapots with quirky designs, mugs with funny sayings, and colourful plates and bowls. These pieces add a fun and whimsical touch to any kitchen, making it a cheerful place to prepare meals or share snacks with friends and family.

Cute Coquette

Cute coquette is a mix of vintage and modern styles that create an eclectic look. This trend involves mixing different colours, textures, and patterns to create a unique and fun design. Examples of cute coquette pieces include bright pink armchairs, colourful curtains, and patterned rugs.

With so many different home decor trends out there this year, it can be hard to know which one will work best for you and your space. But whichever one you choose – whether it’s gothic interiors, colour pops or beautiful browns, make sure you choose something that reflects your personal style so that you can truly feel at home in your own space!
