Little Portugal | Toronto Real Estate

Situated within Brockton Village, Little Portugal, also known as Portugal Village is a small ethnic district located just below College, above Queen West, and between Ossington and the CNR/CPR. The area as one can imagine from the name is home to Portuguese residents and small businesses and recently it has become home to a number of Brazilian Ex-Pats, who share the language as well.

Little Portugal offers families ample public and catholic school options for school age children, while offering youth a community centre with programming at McCormick Park Recreation Centre including a gym, weight room, games room and indoor pool.

Greenspace in the area include Lakeview Avenue Parkette, McCormick Park with an adjacent playground, wading pool, and baseball diamond, and Dufferin Grove Park offering community members sports facilities like tennis and basketball courts, a sports field and ice rink.

Houses in the area are primarily row-houses and Victorian semi-detached homes built between 1880 and 1920. Picture narrow lots with pillared front porches, iron fencing, meticulous gardens in the front and parking laneways in the back.

The main shopping district in Brockton is located on Dundas Street West and College, and they are owned, operated, and catered primarily to the Portuguese community. Try the baked goods and specialty gourmet foods that bring visitors from all over the city! Additional shopping and dining can be done locally in Bloordale Village, or close by at Dufferin Mall or Galleria Shopping Centre. Each offers a combination of box stores, chain retailers, and medical services on site.

Public transit users can make use of bus service on Dufferin and Lansdowne with connections at the Bloor-Danforth subway line, and streetcars that travel along Dundas and College, taking passengers all over the city. Motorists best choices are Dundas and Bloor for inner city travel, and the Gardiner and Lakeshore for commuting in and out of the city!
