Summerhill

The Vibe

Situated south of St. Clair, north of Bloor, and between Avenue Road and Mt. Pleasant is the desirable neighbourhood of Summerhill. Name after Summer Hill House erected in the 1800’s by Charles Thompson (Canadian Transportation baron) and owned as his personal estate, the property was later subdivided for his heirs and in time, wealthy Torontonians. By the 1880’s, the North Toronto Railway station had been built on Yonge Street and the surrounding areas continued to develop and boom! While the initial station closed, Summer Hill Station made its debut in 1954 which again brought new life to the area.

The Homes

For those looking to purchase in the neighbourhood, look forward to classic Edwardian and Victorian homes (ticketed in and around $955,000) on lovely tree-lined lots surrounded by greenery and a plethora of shops, restaurants, and arts and entertainment close by—including Summerhill Market offering catering and prepared delights.
